How to treat and recycle wastewater generated in the production of rolling mills?

Knowledge on the treatment and recycling of wastewater generated in the production of rolling mills and other steel production equipment: In the operation of steel production equipment such as rolling mills, necessary cooling processes are required for steel, and water is the preferred choice for cooling material selection because of its high specific heat capacity, allowing it to absorb heat effectively. This leads to an increase in industrial wastewater discharge in the industrial production of equipment like rolling mills. In response to this situation and in line with the requirements of environmentally friendly production, the wastewater generated in the production of rolling mills needs to undergo appropriate treatment for recycling and reuse.

After extensive research and discussion, a deep-level concept of a water circular economy system has been developed. This system integrates clean production and comprehensive utilization of wastewater, establishing a model for the development of a water circular economy based on recycling. Following the pattern of natural ecosystems, the process of recycling water resources, which constitutes renewable resources, is based on the recycling of resources and the minimization of wastewater in the rolling mill.

With the support of theoretical systems, the treatment of wastewater from rolling mills has been immediately put into practice. According to practical operations, the difficulty of deep desalination in the treatment of rolling mill wastewater is relatively high. To enhance the treatment effect, the current approach is to strengthen pre-treatment, with multi-directional intensified clarifiers and V-shaped filters as the core, using reverse osmosis membrane technology for deep desalination, supplemented by salt content control technology for recycled water. In the end, the average removal rates of chemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, and petroleum in the wastewater meet the standards for recycling. Treated wastewater from rolling mills can be returned to the production system for recycling, with only a minimal amount being discharged externally. This significantly reduces the intake of new water and the discharge of wastewater in the production of rolling mills.
